Biography

  • born in Gifhorn, Germany; studied education science for teaching music and geography in Braunschweig; musicology in Göttingen.
  • music educator, composer, producer.arranger and musician (especially tap guitarist).
  • since 1978 studies counterpoint tapping and composes for 6-string tap guitar.
  • since 1980 develops his own uncrossed approach of Chapman Stick playing with individual tuning.
  • 1988 Solo LP “Mathias Sorof – Stick Solo” with own compositions of solo- and duo pieces; released as vinyl-lp.
  • co-founder and leading member of the Neue Akademie Braunschweig e.V.
  • live-activities in different ensembles and styles.
  • CD-productions as producer, musician and/or arranger.
  • arranger and producer of children’s songs for educational publishers.
  • co-owner of the Label „Tap & Scat records“, label for contemporary music and jazz.
